Debra Kemp, an Indiana native, is pleased her book has placed as a finalist for a
National Book Award. \"It\'s a validation for all the work that has gone into my
House of Pendragon series so far. The nation\'s best books compete for these awards.
I\'m honored to be a finalist.\"

The House of Pendragon II: The Recruit, as well as Kemp\'s award-winning first book
in the series, The House of Pendragon I: The Firebrand focus on the life of Lin,
King Arthur\'s feisty daughter. When asked why she chose to write fiction based on
the King Arthur, Kemp replied with a chuckled: \"Because King Arthur commanded me to.
I saw the movie CAMELOT and took the King\'s words at the end to heart. The idea
for my character, Lin, was conceived that night. And I\'ve been obsessed ever
since.\" The books are available online at amazon.com and direct from Amber Quill
